Article 169: Concept of Temporary Disability
Article 169.1.a: Describes the conditions under which temporary disability is recognized, including illness and accidents, whether work-related or not, and sets the maximum duration (365 days, extendable by 180 days).
Article 173: Commencement and Duration of the Right to Sickness Benefit
Article 173.1: Specifies that in the case of a work-related accident or occupational disease, the benefit is paid from the day following the inability to work. In the case of general illness or non-work-related accident, the benefit is paid from the fourth day of inability to work. From the fourth to the fifteenth day, the employer pays the sickness benefit.
Article 174: Amount of Sickness Benefit
Article 174.1: States that the sickness benefit is 60% of the calculation base for disability benefits from the fourth day to the twentieth day of inability to work. From the twenty-first day, the sickness benefit is 75% of the calculation base.
Summary
Day 1-3: No payment by the employer or social security. 100% loos for the employee.
Day 4-15: The employer pays 60% of the calculation base. 40% loss for employee.
From Day 16: Social security pays 75% of the calculation base. 25% loss for the employee.

Differences and peculiarities in the public health care (GKV) in Germany?
- Longer waiting times for specialist appointments compared to Germany

- Apart from the removal of teeth in emergencies, no dental treatments are included
