Acampada / Camping rules and procedures at Gran Canaria

Purpose of the Procedure
To regulate stays in camping areas across Gran Canaria, distinguishing between campsites managed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, camping on private estates or forests, and overnight stays in transit areas not designated as campsites.
Submission Deadlines
Applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year.
Initiation Requirements
Camping areas regulated by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria are open to the general public. The Cabildo provides collective camping areas (for more than 10 people) and reduced camping areas (maximum 10 people). The processing of permits in camping areas, recreational areas, and estates of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria can be carried out through the following channels.

You must come with the necessary documentation to prove identity through Appointment:
- Requirements for spanish citizen
- National Identity Document (DNI), passport or driving license.
- Requirements Foreign citizen
- non EU-Citicen with a T.I.E
- EU Citizen with "Certificate of Citizen of the Union (green NIE)" with a Passport or identity document from the country of origin
- all other Passport / ID-Card (no drivers licence is allowed)

Important: Each appointment is for carrying out a single procedure. If you wish to carry out more than one procedure, you must request a new appointment.
When attending our office, you must:
- Come alone, unless assistance from third parties is required.
- Follow the general instructions from the health authorities and comply with the preventive measures as the aim is to protect your health and that of other citizens.
- Owners of private estates or mountains, or those wishing to camp with the property owner's permission, must apply by presenting the property deed and the owner’s authorization at the Environmental Service (C/ Agustín Millares Carló no.14, 1st Floor, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria)
Free Camping
Free camping in the form of traverses refers to those intending to perform routes on foot, following tourist trails or royal roads over several days through the mountains, spending the night in a place that is not enabled as a camping area. Only one tent may be set up per camp for a maximum period of 24 hours.
The interested party must submit an application at least 10 days in advance, expressly indicating the itinerary to be followed and the camping places at the offices of the Environmental Service (C/ Agustín Millares Carló no.14, 1st Floor, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
