Digital Nomad Visa for non-EU citizen

This visa is for any foreigner planning to live in Spain as a resident, working remotely for a Company or an employer (or self-employed) located outside of the Spanish national territory and using exclusively computer telematics and telecommunication media and systems.

When the applicant is self-employed, he/she can also work for a company located in Spain, as long as the percentage of this particular work doesn't exceed 20% of the total amount of his/her professional activity.

The applicant must have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a University, College or Business School of prestige, or have at least 3 years of work experience in his/her current field of activity.

The following family members may also obtain the visa:

  • The spouse or unmarried partner.
  • Dependent children and dependent relatives in the ascending line who form part of the family unit.

The applicant must apply for a white NIE prior to visa application.

How to get the Digital Nomad Visa?

  1. Passport Validity: Confirm that your passport remains valid for a minimum of three months past the duration of your intended stay in Spain.
  2. Application Documentation: Accurately complete the designated application form for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa, commonly accessible on the Spanish consulate or embassy's official web portal in your jurisdiction.
  3. Photographic Requirements: Submit two recent photographs that conform to the specified dimensions and background color criteria.
  4. Verification of Employment or Earnings.
  5. For employed individuals: Provide a verification letter from your employer outlining your remote employment status and job particulars.
  6. For the self-employed: Submit evidence detailing your entrepreneurial endeavors, client roster, and revenue streams.
  7. Criminal Record Certification: Secure a criminal background report from your home country covering the previous five years, attesting to the absence of a criminal history.
  8. Healthcare Coverage Proof: Furnish evidence of an all-encompassing health insurance plan valid for the entirety of your stay in Spain.
  9. Economic Solvency Evidence: Present proof of adequate financial resources to sustain your stay in Spain, such as bank statements or proof of earnings.
  10. Supplementary Documentation: Based on your particular circumstances, additional paperwork like a resume, educational diplomas, or proof of professional competencies might be required.
  11. Document Submission: After gathering all requisite documents, submit them at the Spanish consulate or embassy closest to you, along with the filled-out application form.
